ZELL Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc. (“ZELL”) was founded by Alan Zell in 1977. Originally known as Zell Management & Development, Inc., the company’s focus has consistently been to provide professional property management, leasing, brokerage and consulting services on a third party basis to the owners of open air shopping centers in Arizona.
Currently, ZELL Commercial Real Estate provides property management and leasing services on retail centers totaling approximately 5,000,000 square feet. The majority of the shopping centers in ZELL’s portfolio are located in the Phoenix metropolitan area; however, ZELL provides service on centers in Tucson, Payson, Cottonwood and Show Low. We have a staff of twenty which comprise our property management, accounting and leasing departments as well as the support staff. ZELL currently manages approximately 3,000,000 square feet of open air retail centers which range in size from 15,000 square feet to several in excess of 300,000 square feet. Due to the varying size of the centers in our portfolio and the length of time which we have been in the business, we have had the opportunity to provide service to various types of ownership entities such as financial institutions, national asset management firms, insurance companies, lenders, pension funds, real estate investment partnerships, developers, estates, private individuals and syndicators as well as on behalf of the Court as a Receiver. Each of these entities has their own, often unique, needs and expectations and we have been successful in meeting their requirements by customizing our services to each client’s specifications. ZELL’s leasing and brokerage team represent property owners for the leasing of their shopping centers as well as representing tenants in their search for new locations. We have always operated with the philosophical belief that we should always focus on what is best for the property because if the property is successful, our client is likely to be pleased with our efforts. As an example of the quality of ZELL’s performance as a retail center manager, on two occasions, ZELL Commercial Real Estate was chosen as the retail manager of the year by PMRealty Advisors, Inc., a national asset management firm. Additionally, ZELL Commercial Real Estate Services was selected as the winner in the Small Commercial Real Estate Industry Affiliate Classification by Valley Partnership.
As retail center specialists, the entire staff at ZELL has been trained in the various aspects of shopping center management and retail leasing. To evidence the dedication of our staff to the commercial real estate industry, six staff members hold professional designations. Our emphasis on retail projects is based upon our theory that we can offer the highest quality of service to our clients and to their properties because our organization has the depth, experience and knowledge in one chosen field.
